It has also appeared in the "Funny or Die" series "My Motherboard", in a photograph of a New York City subway car, and in advertisements for Taco Bell. The meme takes the form of the image macro "Normal is Gay." The subjects are depicted with their heads Photoshopped into pictures of various groups, ranging from the average person to the obese. Their heads are usually aligned with their eyes, to give the appearance of looking straight forward.

The caption reads "Normal is gay," followed by a series of emojis. The text evokes an insult to homosexuals, who are said to be "normal" only in comparison to other homosexuals.
